Journal DarkVein's Journal: My first resubmission
This is the first time I've resubmitted a story to slashdot.
It's very strange to see it happening. The Republican Party seems to be getting "back to basics". Basics, which were abandonded before the founding of the Republic. The Republican Party's actions seem to say that they're trying to establish the classic ideal of Republican Government. That is, only a select few should be allowed to govern, and those few should be chosen by a voting class of citizens, and not the "masses". The way they're going about it in Texas is a dirty hack that should revile any hacker.
I think a power coup in Texas, the third heart of the Internet in the USA, is a significant story. (On a map, all links seem to lead to or around San Francisco, New York, or nest of lines between Austin, Dallas, and Houston.) Most east-west coast traffic goes through Texas. Now, considering the powers granted to government agencies under the Patriot Act et al, a political power could feasibly link Homeland Security into most of the nation's national and a siginificant portion of its international traffic, with a gagged gag order for anyone in the know.
Back to politics, the classic form of Republican Government was party rejected because: 1) for those who care about their country but are unable to vote, it is a frustrating existance, and 2) it creates a smaller ruling class, which is always unstable, and vulnerable to tyrants. It was a goal of the British Rebels to avoid these conditions, which they suffered under at that present.
