Journal jargonCCNA's Journal: Where does all this shit belong?

I was just reading the America's Hams Embrace Linux comment thread and came across this site. It got me thinking... Looking around at all the shit we have today.. cell phones, Blackberries, PDAs, Discmans, iPods... Where does it belong? We'll happily interrupt a conversation with a real person when the phone rings without a second thought, without a fledgling hint of remorse and we allow others to do the same without concern. Seems a little out of balance to me. Since when did the telephone become our master? We say we're so powerful, we're masters of our own fate, we're this, we're that... well, fuck you if you believe that; we're not. The phone rings and our immediate response is to pick it up.

Now, I'm not advocating that we completely do away with technology. That'd go against my nature. What I'm suggesting is that we consider the place we've given technology in our lives. Suddenly, I want to give living, breathing flesh higher priority than a piece of fucking copper, silicon and plastic.
