Journal FortKnox's Journal: Fantasy Football: Draft?!? 8

Well, I swear to you that it said the draft would happen sunday night, not that it would happen BEFORE then. So once again, I screw things up.

On the bright side, it did do a decent job of drafting for everyone offensively.
On the other side, it looks like the rankings for DL and DB are WAAAY off (well, the kffl rankings are, and those are what the draft went off of. If you just arrange by regular "rank" it does a better/halfway decent job), so you may need to do some switching around if you didn't setup a lot of DB and DL in your list.

Now, yes, you can't pickup anyone because with the autodraft, all the undrafted people become waivers (so you have to either put in a bid or wait until tomorrow night). After tomorrow night, however, they all (that weren't picked up on the waiver line) become free agents and first come, first serve. Why? To allow some fairness, so that people wouldn't sit and keep hitting reload on the page to get the first pickin's when the draft was finished. If you drop a player, there is a chance he'll be on the waiver line, but I'm unsure. And as far as who gets the advantage on the waivers, I think the higher draft pick gets it (ie - eggman will get anyone he picks up off waivers until the season starts, and kormoc will only get someone if no one else bids on the waiver).

Don't forget to trade and check the messages for players on the trading block.

Update: Meant to make this another journal entry, but might as well throw it in here. What do you think of the teams after the draft? Who's the team to beat? Quick perusal tells me Magnetar Jones has the team to beat. He had a very nice draft, though his backups aren't the greatest...

  • The way I understand the waiver system is this. It's a list, with eggman at the top and kormoc on the bottom. Once you get a player you want off of waivers, you go to the bottom of the list. People higher up have higher priority. So once you pick up a player, you are less likely to get another player, until others have gotton their fair chance.

  • I like my team. Ray Lewis and Brian Urlacher starting DL? Thank you Yahoo! (do I need a period here, because the ! is part of the name, right?) Got a solid running game, weak in the QB, but I didn't draft a QB early, so I was expecting that. Got screwed on the DB's, but I'm trying to fix that. My WR's, could be awesome, could fall apart. All very young, lots of promise, lots of chances for lack of concentration.

  • ...it looks like the rankings for DL and DB are WAAAY off...

Understatement of the season. Something in KFFL's defensive formula is completely broken! How else could you explain 3rd-string cornerback DeJuan Groce ranking higher than starting strong safety Adam Archuleta in St. Louis? Or future Hall Of Famer Rod Woodson getting beaten by his own backup, Keyon Nash, in Oakland? Are they trying to actually use pre-season stats or something? What a mess.

  • Especially for having two injuried early rounders (Vick and Bennett). Fuck all that noise about big name defense players, my guys are all stats: Donnie Edwards and Rosevelt Colvin are the lynchpin QB hunters and Julius Peppers will be monsterous since he won't have a four game drug suspension. Round it out with Roy Williams on the DB and I'm set.

The Browns are set to have a lot of production on O so I grabbed their two premier wideouts: Morgan and Northcutt. Bonus of Northcutt is that A) he returns ki
  • For those of us just following along, have any linkage?

If all else fails, lower your standards.
