Journal The Great Wakka's Journal: Multiplayer Linux Games? 1

I know of FreeCiv and xpilot, but are there any other free multiplayer games for Linux out there? If so, where can I get them? I'd like a game that doesn't require 3D, since I can't figure out how to enable 3D on my GeForce 256 card. (and yes, I tried the tutorials, but when it came time to compile the kernel module, a huge ERROR: WRONG CC COMPILER popped up... guess nVidia isn't using gcc)

Multiplayer Linux Games?

  • Unless you have a good reason you should be using the stock kernel that is provided by your distribution. If you do that then there should be a precompiled binary kernel driver for such a kernel. They already have them for distros such as RH, Mandrake, SuSE. And once you get your card doing GLX there's a whole load of games you can play, I'll just list a few off the top of my head, TuxRacer, Quake I/II/III, RTCW, HL and plus the games from Loki, they're the only ones that I have in my head at the moment but there are a whole load more that I haven't even began to mention.
