Ran out of gas today (again). I just seem to forget these things. Luckily, i usually have a gallon of gas in the trunk. People tell me that's dangerous though. I think it's great. It helps me when i run out, and is a nice help should anyone else run out.
Is it really dangerous?

Back in my old 'redneck' days, we used to put cigarettes out in a tank of gas. Flick it hard enough, and it goes out before it ignites the pan.

OK, maybe there's a small computer for running the engine, but all that shows the driver is a check engine light.

Plus, my dad is the type who says to himself "I'll be OK for 10 more miles, the needle isn't completely in the red area, there is still some white showing, I'm fine, I don't need to fill up yet". A light would do nothing to deter him.

Rather expensive though for ten miles. One gallong of gas costs about $1.50, and can go 20-30 miles.
