No official release from the court today. The headlines caught my attention as particularly entertaining.

This is exactly how things should work (without getting into details). Nobody likes to hear that Linus went off and bashed someone, and sometimes the more politically gentle wish that Linus would temper a proofreader or something, but in that situation there was a proper course of action. I haven't actually read the particulars but have always preferred the corporate digital lines associated with nV and the long gone dmm. At one time the general approach was to prefer RISC associated corporations and products but we see how that worked out, depending upon the level of the game the individual played at. Motorola seems to do well in the microdevice world now.

Take the media with a grain of salt and mind insider advertising plays. A good story without digging into it.

And this is, again, taking the media with a grain of salt for insider advertising and popularity contest type cliques. The concept of panning and scanning for open devices, reachable at whatever level of IP response, remains a very good one. Compare to metasploit and osvdb. Very good material for forward thinking security enthusiasts. At the shell level consider a long dead linuxdoc for firewall piercing with screen. I thought it was screen, maybe that _was_ the old doc. A tldp search reveals a firewall piercing doc with a reference to ssh. That's good starting material.
