I know that my handle is Marxist Hacker. That comes from an earlier time when I too was tempted by liberation theology.
Funny how now, with the election of Pope Francis, the Main Stream Media seems to be jumping on the bandwagon, to the tune of repeating government propaganda as if it was fact, thus committing the very crime that they accuse Pope Francis of- conspiracy with an Argentine Dictatorship.

But there should be no doubt that the alliances the church maintains are in direct conflict with its message. And that should come as no surprise for any organization with that much power. The church is no different from any other business, because it is a business, with all the same foibles as any other. If they have any 'morality', they sure a have a funny way of showing it. Let's just say that preaching by example would be much more effective than by words. The history of the Vatican resembles your average international crime family more than anything it preaches.

And yet, is that not too "preaching by example"? A bad example is sometimes as worthwhile as a good one.
Add to that the fact that often you have to be a criminal to even talk to criminals, and you get the Borgias.

Which of course is the point. In both cases (both the mainstream media's obsession with Argentine state-owned newspaper articles AND the fact that it is the WALL STREET JOURNAL, the propaganda arm of Rupert Murdoch and the New York Stock Exchange, calling them on it).

Yep, aside of course from the point that Amnesty International investigated these charges back in 1980 and found no justification for them. And the Argentine Courts looked at these charges in 2005 and dismissed them.

I don't think you understand. The press is doing the Vatican a favor, by providing trivial distractions away from more serious issues. It's like how the press used the Monica Lewinsky thing to divert attention from Whitewater and Clinton's involvement with Iran-Contra. I suspect that the Vatican Bank, et-al is profiting heavily from the EU 'crisis'. Dig deep enough and find its mane on some foreclosure documents. 'Morality' plays the straight-man in all of this. The pope is an uninteresting side show.

That's not a favor, given some of the reasons why Benedict XVI choose to resign. Don't forget that as of his resignation, all of the curia lost their jobs with one fell swoop; and that Pope Francis, who seems to be either a fast or slow reader, is waiting until *after* he reads the Vatileaks report to reappoint them. Including the head of the Vatican Bank. The change in Popes was a way to clean house and move certain bad actors into quiet retirement in a cloister someplace, where they can do no more harm

The reshuffling of very expendable individuals does nothing to the intrinsic corruption of the institution, which simply cannot be addressed without complete dissolution of same.

There is no intrinsic corruption to the institution, only individual guilt.
There will be a complete house cleaning in the coming months. The basic axioms and theorems are sound and supported by 2000 years of direct observation- far more actual data than skepticism or atheism has. Of course, we're not a bunch of irrational reductionists either. Observation is how we get revelation.

In the coming months? I highly doubt it, unless there's a sudden worldwide epiphany. There's not an operation on earth this big that can 'clean house' without burning it down and killing everybody inside. The soundness of the axioms and theorems is irrelevant when a leadership position cannot be acquired without breaking every last one of them.
