In the category of more evidence for my increasing belief that the terms "liberal", "conservative", "right wing", "left wing" are meaningless, consider China's current edict concerning SARS.
I think that is something Michael Savage proposed in the early days of the epidemic.

Anyways, China is in a big transition period and probably can't be classified in any meaningful way for another 10 or 20 years regardless.

Agreed.
So, my question is (a bit off the original topic) with the Democrats in such a mess, beyond much reasonable hope of recovering, who'll create the third party to replace them? I mean, in American history that's pretty much the pattern.
Unless, of course, a party changes from within. I mean, the Republican Party today is a distant echo of the party of Lincoln, including all the northern Nativist folks who swept into it in the late 1850s.

Um, they were. Check out the strikes in 1877 that started against B&O RailRoad in Pittsburgh and quickly spread to Buffalo, Milwaukee, Cleveland, St. Louis and elsewhere. Instigated by socialists.
Or the "anarchists" of Haymarket Square, Chicago in 1886.
