Journal mi's Journal: Disavowing Fidel Castro, anyone? 3

Is not his death — so symbolic of the world-wide decline of Leftism — a great opportunity for TV-anchors and other journalists to demand, the various politicians (from Obama all the way down to "progressive" mayors) and other celebrities (such as Mr. Kaepernick) disavow the late tyrant and the oppressive regime he created?

And, when they do it, grill them over not being sufficiently enthusiastic about it and waiting too long?

  • Castro was a reaction, though not a good one, to an oppressive regime. Right wing nationalism is just as evil. The embargo caused more damage to the country than he did. He was allowed to stay because he kept Guantanamo open for business. Neither side gave a damn about the people.

  • I'm convinced the reason the Pope doesn't say much about his meeting with Fidel last year, is because it's protected by the seal of the confessional, and that Fidel made a good confession before he died.

    I'm equivalently convinced he ain't in heaven yet. His "room" in purgatory is going to be a busy place over the next several millenia, as everybody who was ever hurt by him is going to be getting an interview in the afterlife. In serial.
