Anti-semitism for nerds, slurs that matter

  • I hadn't heard that term "JAP" before. Granted I rarely read the slashdot fortunes regardless, but I hadn't heard that term. Not that it would have been better to have seen it and thought that it was referring to a Japanese person...
    • After responding to the AC above I educated myself (via Urban Dictionary) and learned that they're associated with certain East Coast areas like Boca Raton. Maybe that's the flying in to Miami reference, but I didn't find anything on them being known for fatness. (Nor can I fathom how Slashdot thought it would be a good idea to feature such a joke as part of their system.)

I've heard the term JAP a lot before, but have never had it refer to weight. Not part of the stereotype that I've ever heard of.

The Miami bit I got, with the heavy Jewish presence in SE Florida, especially about Boca.

I am surprised that was in the fortune system, though. And to tell the truth, 99% of the "JAP" jokes and references I've ever heard all came from Jewish people.

      • but I didn't find anything on them being known for fatness.

Agreed. Gold-digging, uninterested in sex, but not fat.

Did you hear from the comdian whose show bombed? No, he died on stage.

I can type for hours if your statement is true.

    • Don't worry- being an exclusive Cascadian in my culture, my bit is flipped the same way yours is for the term Jap- the Japanese are rather small people normally, except for sumo wrestlers, so I really didn't get the joke.

I Still don't get it as Jewish American Princess- I only know one of those in real life, and she's the type of 23 year old that looks 12. Weight doesn't seem to be an issue for her at all.
