Journal damn_registrars's Journal: Pudgian "logic" on display 13

If some evil, godless, lib-fascist, tree-hugging, terrorism-loving, gun-hating, baby-eating, liberal manages to show you up on American history, then the first thing you do is change the subject.

If that doesn't work and your logic falls apart in the new unrelated topic, then change the subject again. Even if it requires you to place obtuse and thoroughly illogical demands on the other person, it is perfectly OK to use these tactics to show your moral superiority.

It's no small wonder we haven't seen anything from him in a while now, I suspect that kind of sweeping moral victory is exhausting. He probably needs some rest - or perhaps he's writing a song about it?

  • I glanced at the thread, and it certainly appears to be an exemplary example of CGN at work.

Same-old same-old, but damn_registrars, I salute you as one of the last people that take the time to exercise the pudge machine and show just what it can do.

    An amusing read!

    • It's alien to me how you guys' what I'll call Pudge Derangement Syndrome is "amusing". Only if tormenting someone with a social disability is amusing. I'd hate to see what you guys would do with a cripple. Or I guess he'd have to be a Right-wing one, of course, before it would be a field day on him. I guess being tolerant of other peoples' differences was yet another in a long list of Liberal lies. I guess the constant beating everyone over the head with it was only meant for everyone else, and not you guys

That is an interesting job of comparing apples to octopi. I have not been tormenting Pudge, and if you read the discussion between us I believe you will agree with that statement. I attempted to open a discussion with him and he instead insisted on a different, non-related discussion. Later, as often happens, he resorted to calling me a liar.

I did not set out to torment anyone. Further I am not aware of Pudge having any sort of social disability; the way he talks about himself would also support him

        • You're obsessed with someone who has a personality quirk that manifests in what I'd call a slight social dysfunctionality at least (i.e. whereby social interactions break down in an abnormal or unusual way). It's annoying, but everyone has something annoying about them, and it's not called-for to hound them about it.

The bigger man would walk away, and live and let live, but I guess there is no bigger man amongst you guys and him.

You are free to draw your own conclusions about him if you feel so inclined. It appears that you and I disagree on how much control Pudge has over this "quirk" - or rather how much it is voluntary.

it's not called-for to hound them about it.

I don't see how you reach the conclusion of my opting to "hound [him] about it". He enters an open political discussion of his own free will. I enter the same discussion and ask him questions. He could opt to not answer the questions (and often does). The choice to then be hostile was his as well. Nobody w

but I guess there is no bigger man amongst you guys and him.

I think that's really what the problem is these days at many levels. Everything has essentially boiled down to "who got the last word in", a game of tit-for-tat where nobody is the "bigger man" because whoever stops first loses. It doesn't really help that nobody actually debates anymore, not that web forums are all that conducive to a real argument in the first place.

Add to that the fact that these days it seems that everyone becomes emotionally

            • I think it's all about primeval male ego. Pudge envisions a threat to his in much of what he reads, so he thumps his chest a lot. When someone like damn_registrars comes across this display, it threatens his ego, and then he can't let it go. Just exactly like his adversary. So they're locked together in an eternal battle of exchanging oneupmanships and jockeying for that all-important (!) rhetorical "upper hand". Makes me want to go to another part of the zoo.

              • This thread since my original comment is truly excellent! You have held a mirror up for me to see myself, but we may not agree on who I am, and who pudge is, or even who you are; and how much is pre-ordained; illness, quirk, or choice. I think your conclusions about Chris have ample support with his writings, but whether your conclusions are right is quite debatable.

Actually, I would say that pudge versus damn-registrars is a battle of equals, or at least the blind leading on the blind, taking turns in the

It should also be noted that a while ago he entered an existing conversation [slashdot.org] that I was already involved in. He could have stayed away but he came in to the conversation and specifically replied to a message I posted. Don't try to award him victim status when he willingly brought himself in.

            • Snagged you pretty good, did he? :-) You see what he did, right? "May I cut in?" and you accepted. Nothing wrong with that. Yeah, he gets me, too. But never when I'm sober. Just knock him down, take his wallet, and call it a night...

Any serious "debate" with pudge can only end like this [slashdot.org], beyond which can only be described as a farce. Pudge sees his opinion and interpretations of events as fact. You simply cannot argue against that. Countless studies have proven this over and over again.

              Say the magic word, "

              • Hmm. It sounds like you are suggesting that Pudge is himself a troll. I honestly hadn't considered that possibility; I generally prefer to operate under the expectation that anything someone posts here is intended to be generally informative, with only rare exceptions that are intended to troll or enrage.

However, the supporting data is mounting to support a notion that Pudge could himself be just a troll on slashdot. Although for that to be true then we would likely have to accept his own website also
      • I'd hate to see what you guys would do with a cripple.

Cripples get fucked with my tiny cock, just like everybody else.

  • The last discussion I had with ended with him walking away. he called me liar a bit, too, but whatever. Actually the best running debate I had in awhile led to me friending a guy who's an attorney. The snarkiness got to a point to where we both ended up laughing :-)

The difficulty with Pudge is that he can never be wrong. Ever. And since he is only capable of seeing things in black and white terms, any opinion that disagrees with him must therefore be wrong. Not simply a difference of opinion, but w
