Journal Jimmy_Slimmy's Journal: F***king Chris Nandor 13

Hey, can anyone confirm if one example of karma whoring is posting about one's own anniversary?  Or is that just typical geek navel gazing?

Oh well, back to my navel engagement.

Regards,

Jimmy

  • Posting about your anniversary isn't likely to get you moderated highly, if anything you'll be modded "offtopic" and lose karma.

    • Well, just celebrated our 12th yesterday (with a bbq where we held the 2nd reception, no less), so bring it on, mods.
      • Your 12th anniversary of writing a dorky song?  If so, congratulations!  May your karma prosper.

If you have celebrated 12 years of wedded bliss, that is really great!  Ummm, barbeque.  Your karma, that of your chosen marital partner, and that of all your friends and relatives, is no doubt quite high.

If I knew how to affect karma, it might be fun to mess with.  But, alas.

        Regards,

        James

You affect other people's karma by moderating. Mod them up, their karma goes up. Mod them down, their karma goes down. Of course, you have to have good enough karma to get mod poibnts to do that.

You can't really tell what someone else's karma is, but youcan guess. If you see a lot of highly rated comments from them, chances are their karma is excellent. Youo can also look at their fans and freaks list, if they have more freaks than fans they probably have bad karma (and vice versa).

          • Hey, thanks for the advice.  There are aspects of this I had not cared about, nor paid attention to, previously.  Maybe an old dog can learn new tricks.

BTW, I enjoy reading your journal, though I only read it occasionally.  Have you ever been paid for your writing? If not, are you trying to get $ from writing?  I think you could.  But, I never have been directly paid for my writing, and never was interested to be.

            Are you a fast typist?

Also, submit stories [slashdot.org] to the front page, and don't be disappointed when

              1. They aren't posted
              2. They are posted under "several readers wrote to say..."
              3. The same story you submitted Monday is posted by someone else on Friday

Never been paid for my writing, but I haven't tried, either. I've collected a lot of my old K5 "Paxil Diaries" in book form I may try to publish some time. A few folks have encouraged this.

I'm not really a fast typist, or rather, I wasn't twenty years ago. It's been a long time since I took a typi

    • But can anyone moderate a posting that is also a journal article?  I think not.

So if I post in my journal, maybe that would preserve my karma from newbies, AND I would be TIGHTLY COUPLED to my choice of friends who can STROKE ME in my journal, and foes who can only watch in frustration and wish they could be my friend.

      Heh.

Too bad for my plan, that I am a friend to all and a foe to none, so that EVERYONE can stroke me, and I can _feel_ the luv.

No, journals aren't moderated, they can be as trollishly flamebait as one wishes without damage to karma (which is why few slashdotters read journals; or at least, are picky about the journals they read).

I am a friend to fans and a foe to none, although I have a few freaks. Not many.

  • I was thinking... If I, a guy, wrote a song about fsking a guy, and then on the anniversary of trying to make that song part of the popular culture, I revisited it, would I be a latent kind of guy, straining to come out of the closet? Or just a music lover? Or a low priced karma prostitute? Not that it really matters, but... butt... but... I confirm one could make a choice, only if one knew the dumb asses involved. It might all be perfectly innocent play. Nothing to see here, move along... CGN i c
  • I was totally expecting some TRoLlaXoR style homo-erotic fan fiction.

    • Ha HA!

I confirm p_c _made_ you look!  Did you see the original on u-tub , or the lame-o mirrors behind the firewalls?

      Made you look!

      Made you look!

      Made you!

Huh?  p_c _made_ you?  How guy!
