Aren't you glad you go to slashdot ;)

    • Thanks for posting.

I think what ever way it looks, it is okay with me. I am taking your post as a point of information, not really a warning that you think information was lost by some quirk of programming.

I am often in awe of the slashdot programming. And I say this as a person who has made many thousands of US dollars programming perl as a free-lancer for clients.

I _am_ glad I go to slashdot. I seldom have more fun! Well, at least with my clothes on. ;-)

yes, it was a point of information. HTML is a lot easier than Perl!

        • HTML and perl sure are different!  I love perl, it is so much fun, and the people are (99%) so interesting also.

During the early dotcom, I made some bucks hand coding HTML because of the demand, but there is no money to be made for me now.  Low overhead- used the bare bones editor, free version, when Rich would answer the emails.

Ah, those were the days.  pudge had not even fossilized yet.

My favorite HTML editor in Windows is Notepad.

            • Since my work forces me to use MS OS, I looked for a multiplatform editor that holds a candle to BBEdit.

I like JEdit now.  Win, Mac, Linux, etc.

My first requirement is excellent regex support, and global search and replace.  perl regex, of course.

              Free and open source.

              Color coding is nice.

              And then bells and whistles.

But I know to tread carefully when getting into discussions of religion.
  • I've tried to call him out before [slashdot.org] and the result was predictable; he's a damned coward [slashdot.org]. He won't come here to defend himself, at least in part because he likely knows he couldn't do it if he was armed with cruise missiles.

Though it is entirely within his character to later attack you in his own journal entries; so watch for that.
    • Well, I know that because I am you.

But thanks for taking the time to confuse RG.

      ;-)

      • Counting down for RG to orgasm in his journal...

        3...

        2...

I'll race you for who gets to burst his bubble first when he realizes again how idiotic that assumption is.
        • Sometimes it is even hard for me to realize how idiotic he is.

I think I am beginning to see what he meant by -6. I think he meant to insult me by saying he filters out my individual comments by adding -6 to my score. But the post he replied to was only rated 1. I do not think any of my posts has ever been moderated, my karma is neutral.

But I think he lurks, and reads.

Now, pudge, he likely does not lurk and read. With all due respect for your conclusion, I think they are different peo
          • Sometimes it is even hard for me to realize how idiotic he is

            His world is, well, unique.

I think he meant to insult me by saying he filters out my individual comments by adding -6 to my score.

I've seen him say that before. I believe there is a setting under preferences that allows you to change the displayed score based on your foes/friends lists. Of course we all know that the lowest score you can actually end up with is -1; but if you apply a -6 modifier, then everything that is modified by it will show up as -1 (to you). Presumably he is saying that he browses posts at 0 or something else higher than -1, so that he therefore shouldn't see the posts of anyone on

            • Oh Lord, as I travel into the valley of quoting hell, please shepherd me... I try to just insert an endquote and quote markup, and put my comments in between, but is there a better way or a firefox extension or something... I have real work I am avoiding...

In other words, it is just another step he takes to censor people out of his world who he doesn't like.

I do not think any of my posts has ever been moderated

Didn't you recently say you were awarded mod points?

Yes. But it is weird, they seem to expire on different dates. I tried using some of them. In certain views I see how to use them, but in others I do not. Weird! But not unusual.

I thought that was usually a reward for having your own posts moderated up.

I seldom look, but I have never seen any moderation of my stuff. I thin

              • damn- sometimes I hit submit too early, sometimes never at all. f it all. Maybe more later... the human interface here leaves something to be desired... it is not idiot proof because idiots are so damn clever... as I illustrate.
            • With all due respect for your conclusion, I think they are different people.

I haven't made that claim in quite some time.

True. I raised the issue in part because I followed one of your links back to January that reviewed some of the facts.

I note that not renewing a claim is not the same as withdrawing a claim. Similarly to the observation that the absence of one thing is not the presence of its opposite.

I notice that RG shuts up rather more easily, also.

RG will eventually give up when he has nothing else to say. He'll sling a parting insult and then disappear (often bringing up the issue again in his own journal as if the discussion never happened). Pudge, on the other hand, will continue to talk circles around the matter until the conversation is shut down; at which point he will go on as if the discussion never happened.

              True!!!!

But you know all this, since...

Because I am also CmdrTaco. And kdawson. And Timothy. And Pudge. And even railgunner. And every other user you can imagine ever running into, including the people who used to be on my foes list. They are all me. You are also me. So is the anonymous coward and anyone else reading this.

              I can not confirm that.

It's all true, because someone said so. And that person was, of course, me.

I can. And people believe that you are me. For that matter, I just stated that you - and everyone else on slashdot - are actually me anyways. Hence if you are me, then everything you know is something that I already know. Therefore if I tell you that you know something, then you know it because I said it to be true.

Therefore I have just confirmed it on your behalf; which means you have indeed confirmed it.

And of course, just like my alter ego Pudge, I am indeed the only source of real knowledge. A
