I guess it was inevitable. The Canadian invasion continues. Just like same-sex marriage is spreading to the US. Hopefully at some point they'll get it right by copying one of the single-payer health care systems around the world as well.

The closest we've come in ... possibly ever ... was back in 2009-2010 when President Lawnchair was in the white house and democrats controlled both chambers. What did we get? The biggest corporate handout in the history of government, which locked us in to for-profit insurance for a great many years to come.

I've been championing single-payer over our awful system for decades now. I don't think we'll see a meaningful change for at least a couple more decades.

In politics a week can be an eternity, but 20 years is a mere blink of the eye. It's all relative :-)

It's a shame that the politicians are too beholden to the interests of the insurance lobby to be concerned about all the people who died as a result of the broken system in those 20+ years.

But of course it wouldn't have been profitable to give them access to health care. We don't do that here. We do it in Iraq, but not here.
