Journal Rastl's Journal: Ratio of started to completed posts

My ratio of started to completed posts is about 2:1. As in, I start to write a response and I actually end up posting it about half the time.

Why would this be? Mostly because as I get into my posting I realize that I'm guilty of one or more of the following:

  • Boring response. There's nothing I find interesting in my own post so why should I inflict it on others?
  • Irrelevant. My reply doesn't add anything to the discussion at large.
  • Personal agenda. For whatever reason I start what I think will be a reasoned response and end up doing nothing more than spouting my personal beliefs.
  • Uninformed. Not surprisingly, I often find I think I know more than I actually do.

As such I'll look over my post and before I even hit 'Preview' I've realized that whatever I've written doesn't need to be said.

Not that I'm not tempted to post some of these things. It's just that I try very hard to make sure that if I'm going to post a comment that it's going to be something that doesn't hit on any of the above points. I think most of the time I succeed.
