  • I once told a toner salesman we had a paperless office. He still kept trying to sell me more - it was fun. The tricky bit was that someone was running off a few hundred copies on the copier right outside my office. Quite a noisy machine, that.

        That would be tricky. Some salesmen won't politely end a call even after the tenth firm repetition of non-interest. One method that works pretty well is to say you'll give them your business if they will sell to you at some unsustainably low cost. For example, say a toner catridge costs $100 from your current supplier, aim for $15 per cartridge from the salesman. Most get the idea pretty quickly that you're not going to budge on your lowball number and give up. Technically no lying going on either, as long
