The four boxes for defending liberty

  • I wish some of those who bitch and moan about how bad things are would get themselves a moving box and find another patch of land to occupy. While things may not be perfect here, I would rather be here in the states than anywhere else on earth.
    • Perhaps - but, bitching is part of what we do. "I may not agree with what it is that you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." <sic>
    • I'm working on it, but I'm not absolutely certain it'd be leaving the country. I just want to leave the urbanized areas.

I'm just not there yet, and I don't think I can do it until my parents are dead.

I've found a nice place out in the country. We bought the corner of an old farm family's back 40. We have a nice small town down the road a few miles (and when I say small, they have a yearly outhouse race down main street). If we ever need anything more than the local grocery store has we can drive 30 minutes into the city. We certainly are not way out there, but it is much nicer than living in the city. Now come retirement, a cabin in the UP of Michigan (the part of MI not attached to the hand) might

There is a huge difference between living in a sprawling town like Atlanta as opposed to a true urban center like Boston, NYC, or Philadelphia. Those cities are really fun and I think that a lot of people get there and then really enjoy life.

        • One of the primary things that I dislike about the urban areas in which I've lived is the number of people. I don't like crowds. And I live in a smallish town near Orlando, FL and that's too many people for comfort.
    • How about Oz? I don't know anyone who moved to Australia who has regretted it.

Heh, Oz has just as many privacy, dumb "save the children", and other such laws as the US. In fact, every country on the globe has these laws. For every silly law on the books in the US I am sure I can find one in another country of your choice. For every benefit you can find in other countries over the US, I can point out an advantage to living here in the states.

The UN and other organizations can point out how other countries health is better than the US, while I go see the doctor oh a whim. Other cou

You are, UNFORTUNATELY, right. (Unless you're wrong because we have more.)

On the other hand, so, for my money, is tom. (And yes, I'm a self-chosen immigrant here in Oz.)

It is easier to write an incorrect program than understand a correct one.
