Journal twitter's Journal: Valve Study Shows Gamers are Ignoring Vista. 9

A new study by Valve Software shows fewer than 8% of people connecting to their servers have been lured to Vista by Direct X 10 and only 2% are actually using it. The company president also blames the artificial restriction for a paucity of input devices for PC games:

Gabe Newell, president of Valve Software, said that Microsoft made a terrible mistake releasing DirectX 10 for Vista only and excluding Windows XP. He said this decision affected the whole industry as so far only a very small percentage of players can use DirectX 10. ... He would like to see controllers like the Wiimote or the Guitar Hero guitar, but since DirectX support for devices like these had increasingly been reduced over the last few years, developers didn't dare implement these expensive innovations.

  • Once again you show how willing you are to read what you want into a story - and you read it wrong.

Try looking at the actual survey [steampowered.com] and you'll see Vista adoption at 8 percent and rising, 4 times as much as the "1 in 50" you took from reading your story.

This is where I got that 2% number [blorge.com] and I trust them more than a troll like you.

In the recent surveys conducted by Valve Software, it was found that only one in fifty players who access download service Steam has a DirectX 10-compatible graphics card and Windows Vista installed.

      Just the same, you are

You got that number from an article which quotes a Valve survey as a source. I gave you a link directly to that exact survey, which according to you disagrees with the article (it doesn't, but that's more down to your complete lack reading comprehension than any other factor). Seeing as the survey is objective fact, and your article is journalistic opinion, then which is more likely to be right? Take your time, we'll st

  • 8% is actually higher than the current Vista market share [hitslink.com].

So what was the "M$ is teh sux" angle here again? I think this is good.

    • If Gamers did not buy into Vista for Christmas or back to school, when will they? If Gamers don't buy into Vista, who will?

So far you've been telling everyone and their grandmother that "M$" is dying. So far they've gotten as much market share as XP did in the first few months after release. So far that market share has been growing at the expected rate of about 1-1.3% per month. So far you've got shit.

You should have waited a year to see if your predictions of Microsoft demise were going to come true. Actually, instead of saying you started "when you heard about Vista" and open up yourself to someone proving that you started
