What I think of Luxleaks

  • But what will happen when the loopholes are closed? The Caymans, Bermuda, etc., are still going to be open to business as usual.

    The real problem is allowing businesses and individuals to claim huge monetary investments in tax havens when they don't actually have a real presence in the country, the sole purpose being to evade taxes. Most of them are just a mail drop that, as W5 discovered, when they went calling on an apartment that also serves as the "headquarters" for more than 20 other shell companies.

    • I know all that. Don't forget, I've lived here my whole life and know the mailbox companies. Let the Caymans and Co have them. It's not as if they actually leave money here (tax rates close 0 benefit no one except corporations).

      afterall the three robotic laws were overwritten not once, but twice. first by a non three laws robot, and second by a 'obfuscation' of real data as game data so a computer could make choices that would end lives by believing it was playing a game.

      and with robotic drones where they are now robots could easily kill more people through thinking it was simply executing a game script several million times. there was a scifi from the 50s about a robot that tried to recreate the image of

      • But the "three laws" are fiction, same as the shell companies used to avoid taxes. Robots might some day be constrained by robotic laws, but humans have a tendency to break the rules given half a chance.
