Journal bofkentucky's Journal: Sun Certified Network Administrator 6

I finally passed the bastard, has anyone ever actually used Sun's DHCP daemon as opposed to ISC? Now to schedule my Sun Certified Security Administrator course, and hopefully pass the cert before review time in July.

I thought about using it once, because I wanted to use DHCP with Jumpstart (I maintain our company's Jumpstart infrastructure). I took one look at configuring it and decided I'd rather use the ISC daemon that I am familiar with, or nothing at all.
  • One of my coworkers got his Certified Linux Professional, and it was apparently a real bear: not only does one have to know the usual stuff (file system, user, and process maintenance), but he also had to prove that he had scripting chops. Having never been a programmer, this was hard for him....

I imagine that Sun has similarly strict requirements. Congratulations!

    • No scripting from sun, thanks goodness. Their exams do put just enough emphasis on tools that no one uses (Print server, Sun's gui sysadmin tools, Sun DHCP) that if you don't study those specifically you can't pass the exams.
