Journal twitter's Journal: Novel Releases Microsoft Office XML Converter

Everyone is announcing Novel's release of their promissed OOXML converter for Open Office (Word only). The package requirements are Novel branded Office on Linux or Windows. Their server is not responding and there are no real reviews yet, so it's hard to say if it works better than the free version on Source Forge.

Microsoft's Office Product Manager uses the occasion to sooth lawmaker's nerves and declare the format wars over before they start.

I think at this point we can really move onto more productive and collaborative discussion and admit that we are no longer in any sort of "file format war." If we ever were really in a war, it's now over, and both sides are winners.

ITWire calls it a nail [driven] into Microsoft Office coffin.
