Journal Randle_Revar's Journal: [Ask the Circle] Introductory DB/SQL book? 5

I am taking a beginning Database/SQL course, and while the teacher seem to be pretty good, the book (which he did not pick out) does not seem to be that good. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good basic book (or books) for Databases and/or SQL. Thanks in advance.

  • although I have a fondness by the original works by Dade and others, you can't go wrong with the camel.
    • For some reason O'Reilly didn't occur to me. And after some Googling, I decided you meant "Date" instead of "Dade". His stuff looks good and very in-depth. Thanks for the tips!
  • I like the one we used at University. I'm not at home, but reply to this comment so that I think of looking it up ;-) It covers basic SQL, normalization, locking and a lot of stuff on the theoretical level... That last one is probably not what you have in mind, but I still look back into it from time to time.

It is easier to write an incorrect program than understand a correct one.
