Journal DaytonCIM's Journal: What Hillary tried ten years ago 9

Gov Arnold Schwarzenegger on Monday proposed to extend health coverage to nearly all of California's 6.5 million uninsured people, promising to spread the cost among businesses, individuals, hospitals, doctors, insurers and government.

The plan contains elements that are likely to provoke opposition from a wide range of powerful interests, including doctors, hospitals and insurers, as well as employers and unions. But it also contains incentives for each of them.

  • Despite all the debate we have amongst ourselves, nationalized healthcare is coming to the USA in some form or another in the near future. I hate it, but I accept it as inevitable. Too many people are too greedy and have been conditioned for too long that their health care is someone else's responsibility anyways. Sad but true.

If the democrats get control of all 3 in 2008, it'll happen sooner rather than later. MUCH sooner. AND, despite all the talk amongst us plebes, despite what even the proletariat
    • Because, of course, it's all about greed. Liking your use of the word proletariat. You know what that makes you, yeah?
      • Expecting other people to pay out of their pockets for your expenses is not greedy how?
Unless you care to classify it as criminal instead (just having the government perform the theft instead of the private individual, but that doesn't make the theft any less criminal, just unstoppable). Greedy or criminal, which is it?

And according to the democrats I apparently am "rich", but you couldn't tell by looking at my bank account or my personal belongings. My net worth isn't really very much at all, but darn it
        • No man is an island. The human race is not a zero-sum game. Thanks for playing! Please remember to take your straw men with you when you leave!

On a slightly more serious note, I couldn't care less about convincing you or your ilk to "give" money to other people for "no good reason". Honest. You worked hard for it, you should get to keep it.* What I would like to do, however is change your fucking attitude. We all get pissed when somebody doesn't pull their weight, and so far, I've detected no huma

              Shouldn't that be 'happy holidays'?
              • No :-p

Besides, unlike apparently the Cap'n (not so splendid), I believe in private, voluntary charity rather than government, forced charity. I donate, I help out people with cash and food where I deem appropriate, I'm not the ass he seems to think I am. But this is nothing new - Frederic Bastiat fell under the same kind of criticism close to 200 years ago, so this kind of ill-informed, mean-spirited name-calling by the government junkies has been going on for a long time.
                • government junkies

I find it hilarious to be called 'government junkie' considering I've never leeched a dime off the state (either of them, no less).

I've never understood the right's hatred of "gubmint". I mean, you live in a fucking democracy, the government is YOU. If you don't feel like it is, well shit, welcome to the tyranny of the masses, so sorry you don't feel like you fit in. Let me introduce you to a few Billion people who also don't feel that way. What makes you special?

Yup. I know it will happen. My only wish is that it sucks less than the VA. I just wonder if people will wonder why their taxes went up to support something they expect, for free, from the government.

TANSTAAFL (or in this case TANSTAFHC).

People will also bitch because their favorite prescription isn't available, but a dif
