Journal heliocentric's Journal: PS3 vs Wii 7

Here's a (no nudity, but not everyone is wearing a parka if you know what I mean) clip explaining how the two differ and how that may align with your interests.

Personally, I wish there was a video game console that could be summed up with this pic but what do I know.

(PS if anyone knows that model's name, and/or if she is for sure the model appearing in the Sigma SD14 DSLR print ads [the ones in the photo magazines] let me know).

    Here's a [...] clip

No, there's no clip there. Merely a placeholder that tells me "you have to follow our forced upgrade cycle, and get the latest version of Flash. Yours is too old". Well here's a hint, arseholes, I have the latest version of Flash available for my computer. True, it's a version behind the latest for Windows, but it's the best I can do. So tell me, exactly what is it about your video player that couldn't have been done just as well in Flash 5, let alone Flash 8 that you seem to think is e

    • I could make some comment linking "Tet" and "offensive" but I find that to be too obvious so I will leave it as an exercise for the interested reader to craft a response poking fun at Tet, but not using the Lunar New Year reference to the war in Vietnam.
    • It's only gonna get worse Tet. Adobe is pushing Flash *hard*. The company I work for is an Adobe partner. I could avoid Adobe before, now I cannot. I don't like flash either, but I can't choose. If my boss wants me to do it, I'm gonna do it. I need to pay the rent. I'm not a Linux veteran, like you, that can get any Linux job that comes around. We mere mortals can't avoid what we don't like.

Adobe wants Flash to be the "next platform" for "rich internet applications". If they get it their way, the

Yes, but Flash != Flash Video, and most sites (although perhaps not the one in question here) use more than just flv. Actually, Adobe has a beta of Flash 9 for Linux, having skipped 8 entirely, and gnash is also showing some promise. But it still sucks.
        • Oh, sorry, I didn't know the difference between Flash and Flash Video. I just assumed that video showing flash, was just flash. Whatever.

The solution for you is evident: Head over here [google.com]. Google Video will use flash, but there is this nice feature called "Download". Select "Video iPod/Sony PSP" instead of "Windows/Mac" and download an MP4 file. I think the codecs for that are available for Linux. At least, when I want to download a video from Google Video, I always use that way because "Windows/Mac

Perfect. You see, although Google Video uses Flash, it doesn't require the latest and greatest version (why should it? -- it's only playing a video FFS!), so it works fine under Linux. As it happens, I had seen it before anyway. Probably when you posted it :-)
