Journal GriffinDodd's Journal: Wii Will Woo Boomers and X'ers.

For months now, like so many other thirty something man-children, I have been subscribing to the PS3 news alerts lapping up the marketing machine goop in anticipation of its launch. But launch time came and went, and despite all of the hype I just don't have an interest and it has recently become apparent why.

The revelation came to me as I sat skipping through my Emulator collection, cracking out classics like Ikari Warriors and Paperboy - the PS3 just doesn't look like 'fun' to me. Sure, 9 processors working in tandom to crack out 1080p photo-realistic blood spattered gore synchronized with full DTS gurgling screams is an achievement, but the absolute death of creativity in gaming brought about by this technology-obsessed, hyper-budget industry is enough to make me fall asleep in my cup noodle.

I've never owned a Nintendo, but it seems they have seen the light through the money soaked, polished turds that the rest of the gaming industry continues to cling to. And that is enough to make this old school gamer sit up and take notice.

So yes, Nintendo, crack out your weird dancing lucky kitties, your quirky graphics and Zamboni music then take my money and my time - I'll give it up gladly for some pure, original gaming fun.
