Journal jeffy124's Journal: GUILTY! 4

In a recent journal entry, I mentioned the trial of Ira Einhorn, a man who spent 20 years on the lam in Europe, found guilty in absentia in 1993, and extradited back to Philly July 2001 from France.

Jury got the case last night, deliberated for an hour, and went back to the hotel. This morning, a verdict was in after 90 minutes. (total deliberation was actually LESS than during his absentia trial)

He's guilty.

  • Gee whiz. Cops came into his apartment and his girlfriend is stuffed in a steamer trunk and he contends that the FBI framed him.
I really liked the 'mind-control' angle he was going to try to pursue. (That he was set up since he had participated in mind-control work for the Feds.)
BTW, how does one get pinned as a 'hippy guru'? What's the pay like? Sounds cool.
Best I could ever pull was 'dippy doo doo'.
    • he claims he was doing research trying to uncover mind-control weapons research of the US Government, which is what led to the conspiracy defense and "trip" to Europe. There was actually an article in the Philly Inquirer last week saying that Einhorn had a better chance of using the conspiracy defense back in 1979-1980 (when the trial was originally scheduled) than in 2002.

Einhorn was a hippie to the fullest extent back in the 1960s-70s. Hence his informal title. He claims to also be one of the founders of Earth Day, something constantly disputed by the Daily News, and even asked about by the prosecutor!
