Does "environmentally sound produce" mean grown without pesticides? The first-ever prospective study of the increase in Parkinson's [harvard.edu] for those who were and were not exposed to pesticides, and it's a pretty steep 70% increase.

In the U.S. they call it "organic" produce, but the big farm companies are always trying to get that term redefined.

'Environmentally sound produce' might be a klutzy phrase, but I find it hard to come up with a better one.

And, no, it's not always organic: if given a choice between organic and locally grown produce, I would choose locally grown (transport has environmental impact too). I also try to choose produce with less packaging, or at least recyclable packaging. So organic is one factor, but not the be-all-end-all one, which is why I have to use a different description.
