  • This late. Iraq is what, the size of California? How the HELL could it take this long to conquor it and make it safe? What are we doing wrong that it has taken this long to secure the country and it's borders? Oh yeah, it's because we've got a coward for a Commander-In-Chief who doesn't like to kill IPs when he invades a nation.
    • So your problem is that there wasn't ENOUGH indiscriminate killing?

OK, so we have proof that Iran is providing the explosives for the current batch of high-power shaped-charge IED's. This by all account is a casus belli and means we can declare war on them. Would you support such a declaration and a carpet bombing of Tehran?

I'm interested in your war planning credentials and if you could point out the differences between our use of force in Gulf War I and Gulf War II and also in previous military engageme
      • He's a strong advocate of genocide. I've been down this road with him before and all he ends up doing is claiming that we should turn the whole Middle East into a glass parking lot.

He'll then point out that the President, Congress, the military, and the American people are cowards for not killing everyone and everything that might maybe eventually pose a threat in some way, shape, or form.

Well, that OR that no logic is perfect, and we're already being led by a madman- so we might as well take it to it's logical conclusion. It's far too late for peace, weakness, or justice- the time for that is 90 years in our past.
      • So your problem is that there wasn't ENOUGH indiscriminate killing?

Yep. It's a part of my basic theory of overall strategy in warfare- you shouldn't fight if you can avoid it, but if you can't avoid it (for whatever reason, be it a Commander In Chief who can't tell Iraq apart from Afghanistan, or an attack on your own soil, or BOTH) then you go in with OVERWHELMING force.

If only we had you to lead us, Rommel!

      • I more follow the tactics of Patton- but Rommel was good too. (and if I wanted to, I'd draw a direct comparison between what happened to Rommel when he was recalled to Berlin; and what happened to every general that asked for more troops before the invasion in Iraq. It was less bloody, but the intent was the same- a weak-willed Commander-in-Chief getting rid of his most able generals because they're a political problem).
