gbobeck's Journal: Back to classes and a project update

Today I resume classes at Loyola. This semester I have 2 classes: CS 363 (Algorithms) and CS 390 (Programming Project). The the fun begin.

Part of my programming project will be to build a distributed weather monitoring system. The professor and I have choses to use OneWire based devices from ibuttonlink.com. This project will run exclusively on linux (Gentoo, to be exact).

One of the requirements will be OWFS. There is a big effort to get owpython to work correctly on Gentoo. Currently we are recommending that users add ' export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/owfs/lib ' to their /etc/bash/bashrc file so that owpython can find the correct library files.

This temporary fix works, but a more permanent fix is in the works.
