Journal allism's Journal: I'm dumping Photodump 3

I'm dumping photodump.com. I've had a paid account with them for a few months now, and I have only been able to log in about half the times I've tried. They're watermarking my pics even though part of the paid service is no watermarking. I've sent messages to them regarding both of these issues and haven't gotten a response.

I'm trying photobucket next, we'll see what happens. I've been bopping over to their site periodically and haven't run into any downtime, and they're significantly cheaper (photodump charges $5 a month, photobucket charges $9 for 3 months or $25 for a year).

  • So I click on the photobucket link, and see they have a 'recent' button. Click on that, and get a bunch of thumbnails. One had a caption Mr. Ostrich Is Not Amused [photobucket.com]

When I clicked on it, I got a 404 not found though. So I had to search, and found the picture in the link above.

So on the one hand, the site was speedy, and has over 140 photos associated with the word ostrich. On the other hand, on my first try I got a 404.

But Mr. Ostrich there is pretty funny. :-)

    • I wouldn't say the ostrich looks grouchy, but I can't say he looks amused, either - so I guess the statement is true. I hope I don't have nightmares about ostriches from it - it seems like any little thing works its way into my dreams lately, and generally not in a good way.

I'm not so much worried about whether I can quickly browse their library as I am with being able to upload pics when I want to and have them available for viewing when I want them. That availability hasn't been there with photodump, and
      • I did keep poking around their recent photos pages, and I never ran into any other errors. Their policy of allowing deep links looks like a good idea too. I think I would use them, had I the need.
