Neo-Nazis Create State of Emergency in Toledo

  • Man, I don't see any good JE's anymore. Been a drought of late.

While I'm here, I have a dumb-ass question to ask, maybe you have a suggestion... I'm 28, Joe-12pack motherfucker. Back in highschool I was pretty keen with teh computars. Well, we didn't say that back then but anyway... Back then, CS class was programming in BASIC & Visual BASIC. For whatever reason, I decided that I didn't care for programming and disreguarded it, and once I hit the party scene my programming skills have atrophied prett
  • ...I sure as fuck hope not. Otherwise we'll be seeing more of this elsewhere. When times get tough, the Nazis blame "non-aryans". But this thing... it's just a mess. The Nazis got what they wanted.
    • From the article [cnn.com]:

Hours later, aerial video showed people vandalizing buildings and setting fire to a two-story building that apparently housed a bar, Toledo police spokeswoman Capt. Diana Ruiz-Krause told CNN.

The violence was contained to a six- or eight-block area in the north Toledo neighborhood, she added.
      ...
Ruiz-Krause blamed the mayhem on a disorganized group of the community's youth.

Most of the violence happened when residents, who had pelted the Nazi marchers with bottles and rocks, took out th

    • The strange thing is, almost exactly the same thing happens here in Germany with alarming frequency. Neo-Nazis do an (intentionally provocative) march, counter-protestors show up, things escalate and the police arrest a bunch of the counter-protestors, while the Neo-Nazis pretend to be the law-and-order types (nevermind that they also like to flaunt the law when it suits them).

Mercifully the vast majority of people see right through it all as an attempt by the neo-Nazis to win sympathy, but there's always

    • I say right on Toledo! What's wrong with hefting bricks at a bucn of Nazis? Nothing that I I can see. The commenter from Germany is right--people see right through it and applaud the so-called rioter because they are right. Man, if this was France or Germany, they'd be launching rockets into the crowd and setting cars on fire. (Well, I guess they did set that house on fire....) And the people know that that's the way to do things.
      • The only problem is that it now gives the Nazis the ammunition to convince more people to join their cause because it "proves them right". Considering just how fashionable it is to be uninformed and stupid in America, people will easily fall for Nazi propaganda when they are told, "look! The non-whites are rioting in the streets? And why? Because they hate the white race. Protect yourself and join the Nazi party"! If you think the average American can't be converted to Nazi thinking, you must not be f
        • No, I'm not deluded about the potential for America to become a fascist state (or about the Bush adminstration's march towards fascism), but I do think one of the bullworks against this is people who will take to the streets to fight fascism. Anyone who would allow what happened in Toledo convince them that the Nazis are right is already convinced of that, and any excuse will do to let them admit and vocalize it. Luckily, everyone I've talked to about this agrees that rioting against Nazis is not only acce
