I hereby pledge that I will never again reply to anything submitted by an Anonymous Coward unless it is abundantly clear that the poster is protecting his or her true identity due to a clear danger of being fired, arrested, sued or otherwise harmed because of the information in the post.

Why? I posted as anonymous coward for years (at least 5 of them) before I finally got an account. The reason? Although slashdot covers some interesting stuff, the journalistic standards are horrible, and I didn't want to give slashdot the dignity of my signing up for an account and thereby associating myself with a group whose standards are sub-par, in my opinion.
