Journal bofkentucky's Journal: London explosions fishy 11

Lets take a look at known AQ/islamist attacks.
WTC '93, only killed six, but the bomb was a pissant compared to OKC, would have leveled North tower with a OKC sized bomb.
Kobar Towers, 19 dead, blew up a fuel tanker outside a US barracks
Embasy bombings, 2 US facilities hit simultaneously killing 200.
USS Cole, got a bomb close enough to a US warship to blow a 30x10 hole in the side of destroyer, bigger hole than the Stark explosion which was hit by an anti-ship missle.
9/11, 4 airliners, 3000 dead, you know the details
Bali, 200 tourists dead in a nightclub
Madrid, transportation hit, but more casualties
London today 2 dead, 90 causalties???

Something isn't adding up.

  • I guess I am missing the point here, what are you implying?

Personally I wouldn't attribute this to al'queda quite yet. I think there is a possiblity that there could be someone else behind this, perhaps anti-globalization folks (g8 related), france (sore losers about 2012, just kidding), ira (unlikely), or possibliy al'queda. In a day or two we'll probably have a better idea. Personally I think the multiple coordinated attacks is a signature of al'queda though.

If it is al'queda, I wonder if Blair would
    • Not enough carnage for AQ IMO.
Looks like Madrid, smells like a small-timer trying to increase their profile.

Still retrieving and counting bodies, but it's already past the 50 mark, 700 confirmed injured [sky.com]. Still not another 9/11, of course - Britain itself lost more people to 9/11 than to these attacks - but bigger than several of the other AQ attacks you mention.

Apparently it's been claimed by an Al Qaeda group now; the death toll of two is just the number of bodie

      • While I agree with the assessment that it would be taken as a political power grab, I think it would be best to see if the nation supports the war now. If they don't, then Blair should step aside and let Neville Chamberlain take over. If the will of the nation is to crush this sort of barbarism then more power to him. If the will of the nation is to seek peace in our time through appeasement, I feel sorry for them.

Well, Britain's already very active in fighting Al Qaeda - and remember, it is Blair who is the left-wing former CND (Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament) member: the alternative would not be a move away from involvement in Iraq or Afghanistan.

If the will of the nation is to

          • Years of Nazi bombs falling on London served only to harden Britain's resolve - if Al Qaeda hoped for Britain to react the way Spain did after Madrid's bombing, I'm pretty sure they're in for a disappointment.

And more recently, we've been living with the threat posed by the IRA and their bombers, in all parts of the UK. I can't see us crumbling now, after just one attack.

            -MT.
            • Britain seems to be the one country out there that can actually be relied upon to stand up to evil, and more importantly, to persevere and win.

I'm glad you Brits are on the same side as us Americans :-)
  • this is just the beginning. when the tsunami hit the press was saying 10 dead at first. look what happened there.

    holy cow.

secondly, isn't it odd that it happened at 8:50am? Isn't that when the first plane hit the tower on 9/11?
    • I agree here. 2 is only the known toll right now. Give it time and we will have a much better idea.

As far as it possibly being small time org, I doubt it. Getting that many bombs across a city takes a certain amount of coordination.
