I'd be somewhat interested in such a gathering, but perhaps not in the trip all the way to Saitama... I live in Kawasaki. How about the El Torito in Shinjuku? It's in a fabulously bad neighborhood--underneath the Microsoft offices. At least we'll know where the enemy is located.

      I can think of several reasons he chose it:
      
      It's large enough to handle a big group if this party gets big.
      
      Centrally located in Tokyo with access from all the main lines.
      The food is at least a passable example of Mexican obtainable in Japan (missing California's Mexican food badly.)
      The party's creator (who's going through all the trouble, mind you) probably likes the food there.
      Chances that most /.'ers can find something on the menu that they can afford and like to eat.

Hi all,
even though I'm maybe the /.er with the smallest user ID in Tokyo, I probably can't make it. I'm fully booked out except on the 28th, but even that day is not very convenient for me.

Still, I'm always up for another gathering some other time... and why not have the party in Akihabara, the quintessential geek hub in Tokyo?

  I can't believe that I'm envious of how much smaller some guys thing is than mine -- It just doesn't seem natural somehow. It's my own fault though, I always was resistant to register for websites due to the fear of being tracked. It was the early days, and I was young and paranoid then. You still would be smaller than me, but I could have shaved off 2 decimal places. If /. really wanted to make money they'd auction off unused low account ID's so posers like me could pose.

  We found a pretty funny Witch Bar (like a maid cafe, but with witches and cocktail drinks) in Akihabara. It is an amusing place to drink.
  
  I didn't realize that there were so many sociable slashdotters in Japan. I think another meeting sometime would be fun.

guys, I have a terrible headache and fever and I feel like it is getting worse , litters of Jolt Cola are not helping so far so I might not show up tomorrow if it is gonna be like this. Anyways... the table is reserved for ma-te-u-su so that's the keyword... fingers crossed hopefully I will get better
