No, but I don't talk about them at every opportunity. I rarely talk about them at tech gatherings, for example, and usually only then if it seems appropriate. For example, I did talk about the war once at a Seattle.pm meeting, but only after the meeting was over, and only after warning people I'd likely disagree with them. And instead of arguing, I simply gave my reasons for supporting the war. And the discussion was very calm and informative on all sides, I think. And

Either you have a very different definition than i do of what a "party operative" is, or you have no idea what goes on in the executive committee of the county party.

As to the venue, good point. Right now there are two options on the floor, though more are welcome: Gameworks and Amazon's HQ. Both can accomodate minors, though I am unsure about how well Gameworks can do so. There are pros and cons for both.

As to pudge's question about how it is for minors, Gameworks is a great place for minors. The bar is upstairs, so adults can go have a drink, and everyone can mingle throughout the place.
I'm from up north as well, but I think Seattle is a good central location where we're likely to have the biggest turnout.

I've been in a dozen times and sometimes am the only person in the place who remembers 8-bit gaming. I'd personally prefer some place less... juvenile. As the little ones running around with a fist full of tickets trying win enough of them to get the dayglow green spider on the elastic, can be distracting during a 15 minute long dissertation as to the true meaning of "stay the course."

Of there is hooverville on 1st past the stadiums. This is a great bar which on the weekdays as long as there is no sporting events going on is pretty quite with alot of good seating. They also have some great arcade machines there and free peanuts!

I forgot to add in my last post that they have free parking / free parking lot at hooverville so no worries about having to find parking downtown. And its just a few minutes away from the highways.

Somebody in the "location?" thread suggested Gameworks; I figured that I could flaunt my UID and shine a highlight on this suggestion. I think this is a great venue for an event like this. They have a private-ish upstairs area that I'm guessing is reserve-able. They've got a full bar, decent food, and (of course) a ton of video games of all sorts.

Whichever we choose, we should keep in mind parking. Someone mentioned Belltown. While its not a bad area at all, I wonder if maybe parking could be an issue for people? Maybe the real question is, for Seattle, what neighborhood? Downtown/Belltown? Capitol Hill? Some periphery neighborhood like Fremont/Greenlake?
