Submission + - RobotWar: A Tournament of Programming (filfre.net)
Faust7 writes: In the rarified world of programming games, Silas Warner's RobotWar for the Apple II (originally for CDC's PLATO system) is a classic. Using a stripped-down language even simpler than BASIC, you would construct primitive AIs to win battles against other primitive AIs. Computer Gaming World, at the time, went so far as to sponsor tournaments of the game. Blogger Jimmy Maher will resurrect such a tournament if sufficient interest demonstrates that RobotWar isn't too kludgy or archaic for a modern technical audience. I say have at it!
