Perspective on Gasoline Prices and a warning

I was musing the other day thinking about the economy and this huge disconnect that is apparent when some people keep insisting it's a great economy and outsourcing and globalization is such a wonderful thing. So I went back in time and remembered what stuff cost back when I was first driving. Minimum rage in a chump change entry level (which you could actually live on renting an apartment, I sure did) job was a scosh under a buck and hour, but call it a buck, union guys at the car plants were making close to 3 bucks an hour with absolute full bennies (which I went to as soon as I was old enough).. Gasoline was 5 gallons and small change back from a buck, 4 gallons if you got real high test, which they don't even sell anymore, 100-110 octane. Right now that means minimum rage pay scales would need to be around $20 an hour to be comparable, a normal mid level blue collar factory job would need to be 60 bucks plus bennies, skilled trades would be double that, which means you can disregard all the economic BS the wall street traitorous pirates keep pushing, because they keep feeding you total crap about inflation, with the government sock puppets going along with it with their cooked books and the "official" figures, they are still lowballing everything severely (I have a lot more prices to remember, rents/food/beer/cars/going out to the movies, you name it I can remember it, but gasoline is a big one which hits across the board). Which means folks in the lower and middle economic means plateaus are hurtin' pretty bad right now, because so much of our reality is dependent on liquid transportation fuels. They've replaced actual pay with *credit* or debt as it should be called and an elaborate media smokescreen to keep the rabble faked out so they don't see it. that's why mortgages are now 30 years and car loans are 5 years instead of 10 and 1.5 respectively. they sold credit instead of pay, keep inflating the economy too much, extend more credit, sell you on their boom and bust cycle alleged "stocks" instead of real pay, and etc. Elaborate congames to make sure multimillionaires become billionaires and everyone else gets stuck with owing them. Little babies born today are born into debt to them goons.

We are *so* close to economic collapse it ain't funny. I suggest serious contingency plans to deal with the upcoming fun and games, there is no possible way this crap is sustainable at this rate, the parasites and leeches have borked the economy for maximum short term profit. And those goofballs know it is coming, they aren't stupid, just crooked and fascistic, that is why they are building the police state as fast as possible, to control their *serfs*.

  • Couple of quick questions:

    1. Do you have a date for when you first started driving? Not wanting to call you an old fogey, just want a point of reference.
    2. What are your ideas for contingency plans?

    Thanks!
    • 1-in the 60s, I am an early boomer. My folks are great depression and WW2 eras people, so I heard a ton of stories back then about those times.. Yes, I looked like one of those woodstock images (sorta like that now actually...). Yes, there sure where a lot of nice girls back then who looked like indian/gypsy princesses. Make that a double yes ;) Interesting...times.....

2- I moved to a farm, where the food, water and some fashion of energy comes from, like wood heat. I've put some of "their" brand c
