An example semantic web site which does attempt to combine your various social online identifies is http://qdos.com. Qdos gives each person a rank score, based on your online persona, i.e. the higher your social activity the higher your Qdos, you can also log in using OpenID, and you can get all of your data back in a triple notation. You can claim your name, and add your various sites to the profile, and raise your ranking, if you are that way inclined:

Semantic Web Apps vs Semantic Web Technologies

wilted_buttercup writes "In the December 07 issue of Scientific American, an article named "The Semantic Web in Action" pointed to a number of companies that have started using Semantic Web Technologies, such as Oracle, Garlik, and Talis. The writers state that, "Corporate applications are well under way, and consumer uses are emerging", but I fail to see how any of the technologies they present are examples of "The Semantic Web in Action", as apposed to just applications using Semantic Web Technologies. In the article they fail to mention garlik.com's new service QDOS. Garlik, a UK based startup, which run their services off their in-house developed JXT RDF store written by the developer of 3store, is an example of a company who are intending to start opening up data, and hence populating the Semantic Web. QDOS is presented as a tool for measuring what they call your "digital status", which is said to enpower users to "take control of their online status". QDOS is pre-populated with people from the UK electoral register, and with a number of celebrities, their notion of celebrity also incorporates online celebs, such as our very own Hemos and CmdrTaco. QDOS is currently in beta-testing, and are set to open up their platform to allow developers to play with their RDF data. I was wondering if anyone else knew of any other consumer based Semantic Web applications, which intend to, or which actually do open up their data for the community, and hence can actually be seen to populate the Semantic Web?"
