who_stole_my_kidneys (1956012) writes "The Guardian along with others are reporting on how community members of the Dogecoin currency raised $25,000 to send the Jamaican bobsleigh team to the 2014 Winter Olympics.On Sunday, news broke that the team had qualified for the Winter Olympics for the first time since 2002. The two-man sled will be piloted by Winston Watt, a 46-year-old Jamaican-American who also competed in 2002, with Marvin Dixon as the brakeman."

who_stole_my_kidneys (1956012) writes "Raspberry Pi, the tiny, ultra-cheap, Linux-based PC, went on sale Monday in the U.S. through retailer Allied Electronics, but it's already out of stock.The A version of the computer, which only costs $25, has 256MB of RAM, a single USB 2.0 socket, an HDMI, SD card, and 3.5 audio sockets, but no Ethernet port. Available only through Allied, the A is now completely out of stock for U.S. customers.
The $35 Raspberry Pi B is also out of stock at Allied, but it can be bought through Newark, another retailer, which only carries that particular model.
The Raspberry Pi's more powerful version has 512MB of RAM, two USB 2.0 sockets and an Ethernet port.
A tiny $35 computer Both the A and B are equipped with an ARM processor and are amazingly small — approximately the size of a credit card — making them suitable for a variety of applications in education and DIY systems.

Puerto Ricans were asked about their desires in two parts. First, by a 54% to 46% margin, voters rejected their current status as a U.S. commonwealth. In a separate question, 61% chose statehood as the alternative, compared with 33% for the semi-autonomous "sovereign free association" and 6% for outright independence."
