+ - Skype Won't Say Whether It Can Eavesdrop on Your Conversations->

Submitted by weeb0
weeb0 writes "from the story : New surveillance laws being proposed in countries from the United States to Australia would force makers of online chat software to build in backdoors for wiretapping. For years, the popular video chat service Skype has resisted taking part in online surveillance—but that may have changed. And if it has, Skype’s not telling.

Is this the end of business communication with Skype ?"

+ - Is Microsoft Spying On SkyDrive Users?

Submitted by Anonymous Coward
An anonymous reader writes "Microsoft appears to be actively scanning private files on SkyDrive, blocking complete Live accounts when violations are detected, and thereby leaving people without their (paid) games, (paid) smartphone applications and email. After media coverage on Forbes, Microsoft confirms to automatically scan files on SkyDrive. However, with SkyDrive integration being a major selling point for Office 2013, this leaves me with a lot of questions. Why is the data on SkyDrive not encrypted? Why does Microsoft fail to produce a response to the affected users after multiple months? What kind of files or links trigger such a block? Given the Patriot act, is Microsoft spying for the US government?"

I don't agree with you. I already bought an AC unit. When I've seen that the most basic switch was not working (and the water get all over the floor), I asked for a refund and I did not bought another thing from that brand... So you can not say that this guy "rent" that product ...

Microsoft loves provider to add sticker on their products. They will create a certification process and any company will buy this certification, will put a sticker "microsoft genuine made" on the product or service .... I've heard for some canadian government contract, in the service offer the provider must prove they are using legal software. So it is not new.

Big Brother In the School Cafeteria? 425

Posted by samzenpus
from the getting-an-A-in-cafeteria dept.
AustinSlacker writes "An Iowa school district's lunch program asks children as young as 5 years old to memorize a four-digit PIN code so it can monitor what they eat in the school cafeteria - prompting some parents to claim it's an unhealthy case of 'Big Brother.' An over reaction by parents or an unnecessary invasion of privacy?"

I works as an electronic engineer and I have a lot of parts I use for my different projects. When I start a new project, I have to use the same components, where it is necessary to have a database. I already used the phpinventory : http://www.phpwares.com/ And if you need something better, there is openbravo http://www.openbravo.com/ which is a real ERP ( based on Compiere ) which I plan to use for my new company. But as said before by someone else, it takes a lot of time and discipline to maintain such database, but it is very powerfull. If you create pcb, EAGLE ( http://www.cadsoftusa.com/ ) you can use a database when you create BOM and the software populate directly the BOM with the good components, which help you to keep your standard components.
