Submission + - Ofcom de-regulates CB Radio

tuxish writes: "I recieved a letter this morning from Ofcom (as I operate a CB station under license from them) and it told me that from the 8th of December 2006, I shall no longer need to be licensed as it is being de-regulated. (Note how today, the day I got the letter, is the 16th, always good to see Ofcom is organised.) Due to the The Wireless Telegraphy (Exemption) (Amendment) Regulations 2006, I will no longer need a license. I'm sure this is great news for mini-cab firms and other businesses that use CB as they will no longer need to pay to use it.

I particularly liked one sentence from the letter:
One of Ofcom's priorities is to reduce regulation wherever possible.
to which I just thought.. "That's a lie.""
