+ - Virginia built another Mac cluster->

Submitted by
toxygen01
toxygen01 writes "After System X Virginia Tech hardens its relationship with Apple in area of supercomputing with their new cluster: "[cluster] consists of 324 Mac Pros operating as servers, with eight cores apiece, for a total of 2,592 cores." not much is known as VT hasn't published anything on it's pages yet. However arstechnica describes the system in more detailed manner. This new cluster would rank 73 (theoretically) if placed in June's 2008 TOP500 list. Important to note that this system will not serve as a replacement for already mentioned System X.
btw. can anyone notice the discrepancy about bandwidth of interconnecting network in linked articles?"
