susano_otter writes: Wired magazine rethinks some of environmentalism's more popular memes. Among their "10 Green Heresies": Live in cities. Organics are not the answer. Farm the forests. "Winning the war on global warming requires slaughtering some of environmentalism's sacred cows," claims the article. "We can afford to ignore neither the carbon-free electricity supplied by nuclear energy nor the transformational potential of genetic engineering." Every day we learn more about the complex and chaotic global climate system. One of the constant lessons is that we still know very little. Meanwhile, our technological advancement proceeds apace. Is it time to reconsider some of our basic assumptions about solving the problems we face? Or are these sacred cows a protected species?
