So, as I mentioned earlier, I've been (for a very brief time - shorter than I expected) waiting on the release of Fedora 14. (I miss when they called it Fedora Core - I liked that name.) It's out, I've downloaded the install disc and now I'm doing some prep.
I have, for quite some time, done my work primarily on 2 machines. A Dell Latitude running XP and a desktop (a Dell for a while, now an Acer) running Fedora. Last year I picked up my little travel laptop and I love that thing. I find I use it more and more and the Latitude has become more of an optional piece of the pie. I thought the travel laptop would be too limited to replace the big laptop but that hasn't been the case.
I need a Windows machine for a couple things I need to run for work, but as the travel machine is sufficient, XP is no longer necessary on the big laptop. This really works out well as it was sometimes annoying that I didn't have a Linux laptop. So right now I'm copying stuff I need off the Latitude in preparation for putting Fedora on it. (I could dual boot or run a virtual machine - but the Latitude doesn't really do either very well.)
I'll also be upgrading the desktop from Fedora 12 to 14. And I just realized that the install disc I downloaded for the desktop wont work on the laptop - the laptop is 32 bit. Gonna jump on that now. I've got a lot of stuff to copy so that's fine anyway.
