I got a Wii

[ #203188 ]

Nintendo

So after my last post, I thought I'd dig around and see what the general wii availability situation is. In the process of doing that I saw that a Circuit City not too far from me had some in stock. I ordered and payed for it on-line with the option to pick it up in the store.

I broke for lunch and busted over there. I got the last one. There were people who saw they had some and drove down - but didn't pay first on-line and they left empty handed.

I dropped it off at my house and came back to work. Tonight I'll set it up and play some Wii Sports. Didn't get any other games yet. I did get a second controller set. That was enough cash spent for now - other games can wait. And I've still got all my gamecube games to enjoy. That backward compatibility is very nice.

I will still be watching the price and availability on Amazon. I've been doing it so long now and I'm curious to see how it goes.

  • Cool.

Personally, the Nintendo Revolutions name change still bothers me. [slashdot.org] I doubt i would ever buy one.
  • It's fun - I'm sure you'll have a good time.

I'm thinking about getting Mario Kart, but not there yet.
    • We got Brawl when it came out and we are still playing it fairly regularly. It works great with the GC controllers and is just a fun game to play with 4 people int he same room. Even if you don't like fighting games, I highly, highly recommend it.
      • I want both those and mario party 8. Mario Galaxy too I think. We'll be picking them up slowly - birthdays, Christmas, etc.
  • I was a little wary of updates coming down the pike, but I guess they do online updates, so should all be good.
  • At my side of the pond they are readily available.
    • I can't speak beyond where I live - but in the Orlando, FL area - they are seem hard to come by.
      • There's a pile of them in my local supermarket, has been since before last Christmas. I nearly picked one up, but I don't game enough and while the Nintendo DS I gave to my wife was an initial success, she doesn't use it often anymore.
  • Wii got ours on Sunday - some retail therapy as it was a very sad day.

Just Sports for now - but have some others coming and I will be getting Guitar Hero soon - very very soon - if the stores were open now I might have it already but it is 10pm. Didn't realise they had Guitar Hero for a wii until today.

Not connected to the internet yet - no wifi (yet) in this house, am just waiting for the wife to ask me to get that organised - be a real shame to make the house laptop ready. Anyone have recommendations f
    • I'm not sure what all standards the Wii supports - but my wireless network is wpa and it had no problems connecting once I chose the right one and typed in the password. I use a cheapo netgear wireless router.
