People actually support Mitt Romney?

[ #194450 ]

Republicans

I thought he was trying for the "Least of all evils" vote, at least in terms of getting the Republican nomination. The Republicans really seem to hate their choices this year. I mean, at one point, they were seriously hoping Fred Thompson would win, and he's an actor, and not even a terribly good one, and you know how Republicans are about political involvement by Hollywood celebrities. Oh, wait.

Well, I actually saw my first "Vote for..." sign today that was in someone's garden, rather than littering the side of the highway. And it was for Romney. I had to do a double take.

Now, I've seen plenty of vote-for signs in Florida, they've all been for Ron Paul, and the paultards putting them up have put them everywhere except their own front yards. Which, I guess, tells you yet more about what kind of person actually supports Ron Paul.

So, someone in my neighbourhood actually genuinely likes Mitt Romney. Enough to actively support him. Wow.

  • I was actually quite discomforted by the Mormon faith until I got to know it better. It is still not for me, but I have a healthy respect for most of the pactioners that I met. So as far as faith in a candidate goes, I'd feel more comfortable with an LDS than another fundamentalist type. Of course then I remember that Darl McBride is LDS, too.

Considering how little a voice that Oregon has in the Primaries, I'm not going to get too worked up one way or the other until the the final docket is set. If no

    • I never have cared that Mitt Romney is a mormon; I cared that he was a formerly pro-choice "moderate" governor of a liberal state like Taxachussetts.

I actually fit in with the "least of the evils" as I'll be voting for Romney in the Texas primary just to keep the nomination away from John McCain (too liberal*) and Mike Suckabee (stupid, liberal*, and a jackass).

I was going to vote for Fred Thompson, but only because Duncan Hunter had the problem that no one had heard of him.

      I do feel marginally better
    • I like Mormon hell. It's basically as rotten and awful as living on Earth, but you don't have to worry about dying. Mormon heaven is way better than the Xtian heaven too. AND, you don't even have to be a Mormon to enjoy either of those benefits!
    • It apparently originated with Wonkette. I think "Gentard" might be a great term for the not entirely unrelated "Gentoo ricers".
  • My local area (in the Planned city with the crazy blue street signs) is pretty well divided between the duopoly. The streets immediately around my house are majority Dem, while the next neighborhood over is mostly Repub. So far my neighbors have put up 2 Clinton & 2 Obama signs. But over in the red zone, not a single presidential endorsement. It's kinda freaky.

All of their guys got massively trounced in 2006; maybe they're feeling gun-shy.

Don't suppose there's anyone giving away Bloomberg 08 signs? I'd
