OK, I know I'm wierd, even for a nerd. But gees...
I have a lot more experience at being a nerd than most of you nerds, since I've been stuck on this godforsaken planet longer than most of you. That's my punishment for not dying, I guess. At any rate, having lots of experience at being a nerd makes most of my fellow nerds see my comments as either interesting or informative (and I try to inform; it's one of my faults. Nobody's perfect).
And I don't intentionally troll (well, not usually). I don't intentionally annoy people (flamebait) either, although I know I can be annoying at times.
So as a result, my slashdot karma remains at excellent, despite the occasional moderation of "troll" or "flamebait".
As a result of that, very often when I comment I get lots of responses to that comment. "You have 17 new messages waiting for you, and 3 old ones". So I'll go back and see what people responded, and usually try to carry on with the conversation.
This becomes a bit of an annoying problem. See, I read fast. Very fast. In fact, when in college I took a speed reading course, and went in to the course reading faster than anyone else in my class could read coming out of the course.
Slashdot makes you wait 2 minutes between postings, so I keep getting the slowdown cowboys trying to respond to the responses to my comments.
So I have a suggestion for the powers that be here - suspend the two minute rule when you're logged in and responding to responses to your comment.
Just a suggestion, I don't know how difficult or easy that might be to impliment, but I do know that it would make my slashdotting quite a bit more enjoyable. I suspect some of my fellow nerds may have the same annoying problem, it would help them as well.
