Comment: Show ID For Sending A Book (Score 1) 151

by pjay_dml (#21275767) Attached to: EU Wants Air Passenger Data Collected
Today I sent a book via Australia Post to a friend in England, and was asked for ID (Medicare card or drivers license, as we have no ID card as such). Supposedly for any packet, no matter how small or big, the sender will have to show identification, and its information is stored in a database (for how long I don't know, as obviously the chap at the post office had no bloody clue).

All I could find with a first quick google is:

You will need to show ID when sending items.

If I hadn't already promised to have it sent this week, I would have just walked out. This is disgusting!

Journal: Meta-Moderation

Journal by pjay_dml
I wonder why it is, that after meta-moderating one is sent to a page to choose from two links: home/preferences.

Why not send the user straight to the home page, and place the thank you notice, and the EXTRA link to preferences, at the top of the page, just as it appears, when asking to meta-moderate?

Journal: slashdot user preferences

Journal by pjay_dml
does anyone else feel the need for the tabs in the user-preference section (messages,friends,fans.....) to include a number that tells the user without klicking the tab, that their are entries?
i am from time to time interested in, what other posters have entered in their user section. and everytime i have to click through a row of tabs, only to find NOTHING, i feel somehow annoyed and irritated about having wasted my time.
