hhawk (26580) writes "I've written about the future of TV since the early 1990's. I was inspired by Google's Chromecast, which I feel will help accelerate the demise of Broadcast TV. Models like YouTube, which provide free distribution and monetization is the classic "free" TV business model adapted for IP transport. I blog how at $35 the Chromecast makes model viable for 10's of millions of TV screens."

+ - Project to build Babbage's Analytical Engine->

Submitted by perry
perry (7046) writes "John Graham-Cumming has started a project to build Babbage's Analytical Engine. Babbage's Difference Engine, which is not Turing-equivalent, was successfully constructed by the Science Museum in London. This project would be substantially more ambitious, and would result in a fully Turing-equivalent mechanical computer. Contributions may be made via Pledgebank."
