File system corruption on Ubuntu Jaunty

What's amazing is that this bug was first reported way back in the Alpha-stages of the Jaunty release cycle, and was present even in the Beta. The common traits seems to be a combination of Intel memory controllers, NVidia graphics cards and running a 64 bit kernel. The good news is that upgrading to a newer (unsupported by Ubuntu) kernel seems to solve the problem. But the question still lingers: how did this ever get released?"
